JYP Talks About Racism In Korea

In the last episode of K-Pop Star on 8 April, a top Korean producer JYP comment on racism in Korea make the public surprise. In the show, Lee Michelle, the contestants who has Korean and African Americans mixblood and also had extraordinary vocal ability, was defeated by Lee Seung Hoon, phenomenal dancer that has lowest talent of sing among the five best contestants.

These results certainly surprising because
Lee Michelle looks very impressive with the "Soul Society U Just" and get a lot of praise from the judges including JYP and superstar BoA. In addition, she received much higher jury score, better than Lee Seung Hoon.

As reported by Soompi.com, the final decision of SBS K-POP STAR each week is determined from a combination of many different aspects, including scores of judges, pre-show online polling, and sms from the viewers during the show lasts. Surprisingly,
Lee Michelle could not get much love from the audience, while Lee Seung Hoon continued to occupy the highest position in the polls.

When JYP announced the winners between Lee Michelle and Lee Seung Hoon, he seems to indicate a sense of frustration over the existing results and emphasized, "JYP will do the casting for Lee Seung Hoon as it is a choice of viewers.

At the time of closing,
Lee Michelle got praised from JYP for her ability to overcome obstacles of racism among the population of Korea. He said, "I have something to say to Lee Michelle. I continue to question her (during training) why she could not reveal the expression as well. But she only said that she could not express her feelings because she has been brought up with insults from people .
